Saturday School Pays Off In More than One Way

by Noe Garcia

May 23, 2008

Ten students at La Villa High School were treated to a field trip to Dallas on May 9th-11th for having perfect attendance at all Saturday academy and tutorial sessions offered this year at LVHS.  During TAKS tutorials, students were provided small group instruction with teachers in the areas of English Language Arts, Science and Math.

While on the trip, students attended Math and Science Day at Six Flags over Texas, as well as a professional baseball game featuring the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics.  Students worked on numerous educational activities with a hands-on approach at this event.

Overall, the students had a lot of first time experiences, such as flying for the first time and attending a professional sporting event.  The students truly benefited from saturday school, not only academically, but also with a great weekend full of fun and excitement.
