The La Villa Independent School District State & Federal Programs Department is committed to assuring compliance with the provisions of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001. A strong emphasis is placed on the levels of academic proficiency that all students will meet, on the special needs of certain populations of students, and on factors that are critical to instruction and learning.
At La Villa ISD, the State & Federal Programs Department ensures the inclusion of the NCLB Components:
- Comprehensive Needs Assessment – based on information which includes the achievement content standards and the State student academic achievement standards.
- Schoolwide reform strategies – that provide opportunities for all children to meet the States proficient and advanced levels of student academic achievement.
- Instruction by Highly Qualified Teachers – as mandated by the state at a rate of 100%
- High Quality and Ongoing Professional Development – for teachers, principals, and paraprofessionals.
- Strategies to attract high quality, highly qualified teachers - to high-need schools.
- Strategies to increase parental involvement – such as, promoting family literacy and parenting skills
- Preschool Transition – Plans for assisting preschool children in the transition from early childhood programs, such as Head Start and Even Start, to a local elementary school program.
- Teacher Input for Academic Assessments – is included in order to provide information on, and to improve the achievement of individual students and the over all instructional program.
- Activities to Ensure Academic Achievement – to ensure that the students’ difficulties are identified on a timely basis and to provide sufficient information on which to base effective assistance.
- Coordinate and Integrate Services and Programs – including programs, supported under this Act, violence prevention programs, nutrition programs, housing programs, Head Start, adult education, vocational and technical education, and job training.
