Spring Get-together

By Norma Salaiz

March 29, 2010

Wide smiles and hearty hugs graced the middle school cafeteria after school last Friday, as LVISD staff celebrated its much-anticipated spring social gathering.  Food and fellowship, with live entertainment and a lot of friendly conversation were the order of the day.

“It gave us an opportunity to socialize,” first grade teacher Margarita Maldonado said.  “I hadn’t seen Mrs. Guerra in a while, and I got to spend time with her.”

Recent birthdays of district employees were celebrated, with live singing and entertainment led by Miss Aida Guajardo and her singing partners.

“I could hear all the music even before we got there,” reading specialist Suzanne Espericueta said.  “It was a very, very good time to interact with people from the other campuses.”

Every participant seemed to want more of the same as the district gets to the home stretch of our busy school year.

“I loved it,” said Muñoz Elementary Principal Debbie Lee Winslow.  “It was a long overdue social.”

For those who missed it, next month will bring another chance to get together, according to Superintendent Norma Salaiz.  And most folks can hardly wait.

“We should do it more often,” PEIMS clerk Irene Ramírez said.  “Maybe next time more people can join us.”

JB Muñoz will be hosting next month’s social; all employees are invited and encouraged to be part of it.
