Still within the first week of summer school, Mr. Lopez, a tutor at La Villa ISD has 6th graders working to improve their TAKS scores .Mr. Lopez has been at La Villa ISD for five years. He teaches both math and Algebra. Mr. Lopez says," It has been a pleasure working with La Villa ISD." A student of Mr. Lopez says "my work is not hard, it is just challenging and that's why I'm here getting tutored." Mr. Lopez works summer school for four weeks out of the summer.
Valerie Gonzalez, an incoming 8th grader attends Mrs. Escamilla summer tutoring class. Valerie says "I hate reading, but I enjoy coming to school." Another student says she enjoys coming to school. Mrs. Escamilla has been with La Villa ISD for six years, and she has been teaching the same subject for those years. Reading is not a difficult subject but you do have to work at it. Mrs. Escamilla says she wants to be at the middle school for as long as she can help all the students pass their TAKS to go on to the high school.
