“LA VILLA LEADERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE”
September 18, 2009
The First Youth Advisory Committee meeting took place at the La Villa Multipurpose Building. The meeting is part of the efforts to empower students to become an integral part of the La Villa ISD success by becoming the leaders of today. Representative members from all three different campuses were present to share their ideas. Mission of this committee is the following:
YAC MISSION:
La Villa ISD believes that our student leaders have the power to
make a difference. It is our aim to inspire, support and celebrate
a generation of doers: student leaders who see the need to do
something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take
action. The La Villa ISD Youth Advisory Council will provide the
tools and resources for student leaders to convert their ideas and
energy into positive action.

YAC PURPOSE:
The La Villa ISD Youth Advisory Council advises the district
superintendent on issues that affect youth in the school district,
serves as a communication link for youth to staff, parents, and the
Board of Trustees on a variety of subjects, identifies and
advocates for the needs of youth in our district, identifies and
carries out events and activities for the school district which are
important to youth and creates and fosters cultural relations in
the La Villa community.
YAC GUIDELINES:
1. La Villa ISD believes in our student leaders.
2. La Villa ISD trusts our student leaders. District staff will
provide reliable, easy to access information and leadership
strategies, and encourage the student leaders to initiate
worthwhile service based school and community activities.
3. La Villa ISD celebrates student leaders. District staff believes
all measurable contributions from our student leaders are
valuable.
4. La Villa ISD respects our student leaders. We understand that
today’s youth have diverse abilities and constraints.
5. La Villa ISD values student leaders. District staff encourages
our student leaders to share their passion, time and creativity to
improve the community of La Villa.
