Superintendent's Corner

Portrait of Mr. Elizondo
Dear Cardinal Family,

I have had the honor of being an educator for over 22 years.  I have a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, a master’s degree in educational leadership, and will be a candidate for my doctoral degree in educational leadership by the spring of 2020.

I started my teaching career at Donna Independent School District as a teacher, coach, and athletic coordinator for 6 years.  I was also the summer school principal for 3 consecutive years before being named as the assistant principal at the 9th grade campus for an additional 2 years.  I looked for opportunities for professional growth as I applied for and was accepted as an assistant principal at Hidalgo High School for 3 years.

I accepted an opportunity to become a principal at the La Joya Independent School District for 6 years at the middle school level.  I was then offered a leadership role at McAllen Independent School District where I was the principal at Fossum Middle School and James “Nikki” Rowe High School for an additional 6 years.  I have spent the last three years in McAllen ISD as the Director for Professional Development, Grants, and Early Childhood Programs.  In this role, I had opportunities to coach principals, district teachers, and central office staff in various roles and initiatives for McAllen ISD.

I am very honored in joining a team of experienced and dedicated educators this upcoming school year at La Villa ISD.  Our goal is to establish a legacy of excellence.  La Villa ISD will strive to provide the best educational experience for every student and nurture their growth in academics and extra-curricular activities with an emphasis on social emotional intelligence.  Let’s make the 2020-2021 school year the best one yet!

Paz Elizondo, Interim Superintendent
